Swirling light... Created by Japanese designer, Arihiro Miyake, the Titia pendant has a delicate openwork structure that’s extremely airy. The complex web of intersecting lines forms highly graphical geometric patterns. The lampshade is made up of 3 identical ABS units which slot together very easily. The designer wanted to provide a powerful diffuse, uniform light, with no glare, in a form that was as light as possible. This idea could be achieved thanks to LED technology which allows for optimal light efficiency with miniaturised light sources. Only the inner side of the lampshade is light. The external side of the lampshade is opaque, while the inner side is translucent. A multitude of miniaturised LEDs are directly built into the inside of the fine structure of the lampshade. Designer Arihiro Miyake on the Titia pendant: “I had in mind a lamp which would bring together the style of Christmas tinsel and wooden merry-go-rounds.’’
