Totto Stool: The Three-Legged Stool Reimagined by GamFratesi

With Totto, GamFratesi returns to one of the most basic forms of furniture: the three-legged stool. The Italian-Danish studio offers a warm and sculptural interpretation of it for Gubi. Crafted from solid sapelli wood, Totto combines three slightly angled bases with a generously curved round seat. Measuring 31 cm in diameter and 32.5 cm in height, it fits easily next to a sofa, Armchair, or bed.

The Curved Three-Legged Stool

GamFratesi retains the structural simplicity of the tripod stool but softens each line. The thick seat features rounded, slightly raised edges that evoke a tray. The three bases extend this pursuit of softness with solid forms and rounded ends.

This apparent simplicity allows the material to take center stage. Solid sapelli wood lends its depth and grain to a deliberately minimalist design. The wood is FSC-certified. Totto is available in two finishes: natural, to let the wood’s warm tones shine through, and dark brown-stained, for a more graphic presence.

Can the Totto stool be used as an end table?

Yes. Totto is designed to serve as both a low stool and a small end table. Its round seat, similar to a tabletop, allows you to temporarily place a book or small objects on it when no one is using it as a seat.

This dual function is particularly useful in small spaces. Placed next to a sofa or armchair, Totto can switch roles as needed without adding more furniture.

How tall is the Totto stool?
