A meeting of two leading British fashion and design minds! Paul Smith, one of the greatest creators of British fashion, has dressed the Type 75 Mini lamp – an icon of British industrial design – in a new range of colours. From this collaboration, different models with skilfully worked colour palettes were born. Future collectors’ items! The brilliant British couturier has drawn closely on his own very personal designer style, tastefully combining colours as if creating a new ready-to-wear range, giving the lamp a really hip “couture” look. Paul Smith’s great sense of humour and mischievousness can be seen in this project, combined with his love of tradition and the classics. These very colourful versions are characteristic of both Paul and his creations, a very British style, always with a little unexpected detail. Elegant and just a little quirky: edition no.6 is here! Its white finish enhanced with black details (screws and springs) emphasises the purity of Sir Kenneth Grange's Type 75 design. But, Paul Smith likes to surprise: the monochromatic matt white finish is given a twist by a thin band with graduated pastel stripes. A nod to the iconic colourful stripes of the famous couturier. Type 75 is an architect lamp with an industrial design typical of the 1930s. The original model, the timeless Anglepoise “Original 1227” lamp, was designed in 1934 by engineer George Carwardine. His aim was to develop a flexible lamp, adjustable yet perfectly stable. He would use articulated arms for this purpose with innovative springs that he himself invented and patented! The Type 75 lamp is the modern version of the iconic 1227 Anglepoise model. The base is now round and the reflector takes a conical shape. It can be used as a bedside lamp or on a desk, at home or in the office. All Anglepoise lamps are guaranteed for life: it’s a guarantee of durability, strength and high quality. Anglepoise promises to repair or, if that’s not possible, replace your lamp while recycling your old one.
