Anglepoise Type 80 T1, the sleek and functional table lamp
With its slender profile, conical lampshade, and clean geometric lines, the Anglepoise Type 80 T1 table lamp combines contemporary design with precision and practicality. Designed by Sir Kenneth Grange, it embodies the essence of the Type 80 collection in a compact format that’s easy to place on a desk, console table, or end table. Its adjustable lampshade directs the light exactly where it’s needed, while a subtle halo softens the beam.
A technical silhouette designed with meticulous attention to detail
Sir Kenneth Grange designed the Type 80 with a clear focus on simplicity, functionality, and durability. The lamp features a lampshade made of aluminum, a steel arm and base, and a machined anodized aluminum joint. This combination of materials emphasizes its industrial character while maintaining a visually lightweight silhouette. The spring mechanism and cables are concealed inside the arm to preserve the purity of the lines.
The Type 80 T1 is available in Light Mastic, Mist Gray, and Mat Black, as well as in a version with an Opal Glass lampshade. These understated finishes allow it to blend just as easily into a minimalist workspace as into a cozier interior.
The luminous halo, the signature feature of the Type 80 collection
The detail that immediately sets the Type 80 apart is found in the lampshade. An opening allows a soft secondary glow to escape around its upper edge. This luminous halo complements the direct, focused downward light. As a result, the lamp remains fully effective for working or reading while casting a softer glow into its immediate surroundings.
Is the Type 80 T1 suitable for working or reading?
Yes. Its spring-loaded joint allows you to precisely adjust the lampshade to direct the beam toward a book, a Notepad, a keyboard, or a work area. It is equipped with a 6-watt LED bulb E27 that emits 470 lumens with a color temperature of 2700 K—a warm white light suitable for everyday use.
Can this lamp be installed on a small desk?
Yes. The Type 80 T1 was specifically designed to provide functional lighting in a compact size. Its base measures 17.5 × 12.5 cm and features a slim, weighted design. This ensures good stability while leaving space around the Lamp for Notepads, Books, or other items. Its maximum height is 48 cm.
How do you turn the Type 80 T1 on and off?
The switch is built directly into the lampshade. This placement makes it easy to turn the lamp on and off without having to search for a switch on the Cable. It also contributes to the overall simplicity of the design by maintaining the continuity of the silhouette.
What kind of bulb does the Type 80 T1 use?
The lamp uses a replaceable LED bulb E27. The model provided delivers 470 lumens with a color temperature of 2,700 K and a rated lifespan of 15,000 hours. The maximum power rating is 10 W E27 LED.
Designed to complement everyday activities without cluttering the space, the Type 80 T1 Anglepoise naturally finds its place on a desk, in a bookcase, or on a console table. Its balance of focused light, graphic silhouette, and meticulous finishes makes it a lamp that is as pleasant to use as it is to look at.
