Alu Round table metal green / Ø 120 cm - 4 to 6 people

Alu Round Table, Ø 120 cm, by Muller Van Severen

Designed by Muller Van Severen, one of the most renowned duos in contemporary design, the Alu Round Table combines bold graphic design, color, and functionality. Fien Muller and Hannes Van Severen work at the intersection of art and design and have established an instantly recognizable aesthetic characterized by clean lines, simple forms, and bold colors. Their work is exhibited and featured in leading institutions, including the Centre Pompidou and the Vitra Design Museum.

With a diameter of 120 cm, the Alu table seats 4 to 6 people. Its natural aluminium legs contrast with a colorful tabletop featuring a glossy finish, available in Green, Ivory, Pink, or Yellow. Designed for both indoor and outdoor use, it creates a dining area that is just as visually striking in a dining room as it is on a patio or in a garden. Its aluminum construction makes it both sturdy and lightweight, while the applied finishes ensure it can withstand the elements.

Muller Van Severen, a leading design firm

Founded by Fien Muller and Hannes Van Severen, Muller Van Severen has established itself as a major name in Belgian design. Their furniture captivates with its ability to combine an almost architectural precision with a very free approach to color. Le Duo collaborates with manufacturers as well as galleries, museums, and collectors, placing their creations at the intersection of functional furniture and collectible pieces.

The Alu collection fully embodies this approach. The Alu Chair was originally designed for architect Anne Holtrop’s Bahrain Pavilion at the 2015 Milan World’s Fair. The table was later added to the collection to create a cohesive dining set, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

Color as a Material

At Muller Van Severen, color is never merely used to adorn the form. It plays a direct role in the design process. The duo views color as a material in its own right. The switch to a powder-coated finish has allowed them to significantly expand their palette and explore an infinite range of shades. On the Alu table, the glossy table top thus becomes an expressive surface that contrasts with the understated simplicity of natural aluminium.

This contrast between geometric structure and chromatic intensity is one of Le Duo’s most recognizable hallmarks. Each color alters the overall atmosphere and allows for the creation of compositions that are sometimes playful, sometimes more understated. Green, Ivory, Pink, and Yellow thus become true elements of interior or exterior architecture.

A table conceived as a landscape of colors

The Alu collection allows you to create a true chromatic landscape. Muller Van Severen plays with color combinations to alter the perception of space. A yellow table paired with contrasting chairs creates a lively and spontaneous atmosphere. An ivory or pink tray, on the other hand, lends a softer presence while retaining the collection’s strong graphic identity.

The Alu table pairs naturally with the Alu Chairs from the same collection. The chairs can match the tray’s color for a coordinated look or feature a variety of colors to accentuate the collection’s artistic spirit.

How many people can sit around the Alu Ø 120 cm table?

The Alu table (Ø 120 cm ) is designed to seat 4 to 6 people. Its round tabletop creates a convivial setting that encourages conversation and is suitable for both everyday meals and gatherings with friends.

With a height of 74 cm, it has the classic proportions of a dining table and can be paired with chairs from the same collection to create a cohesive set.

Can the Alu table be left outside?

Yes, the Alu table is designed for both indoor and outdoor use. Its structure is made of natural aluminium protected by a transparent varnish. The aluminum tray features a powder-coated finish with a glossy sheen. The entire piece is also treated with beeswax and a UV-protective lacquer. These features make it weather-resistant.

It is therefore naturally at home in a dining room, but also on a patio, in a garden, or under a sunroom. Its lightweight design also makes it easy to move around depending on the season or intended use.

Which chairs pair well with the Alu table?

The round Alu table pairs perfectly with the Alu Chairs by Muller Van Severen. This combination extends the collection’s geometric lines while allowing for great freedom in color selection. Chairs in different shades can create a graphic and playful ensemble, while a more uniform color palette lends a sense of understated elegance.

With its 120-cm diameter, lightweight construction, and bold color palette, the Alu table embodies what makes Muller Van Severen’s work so compelling. It transforms color into a material, geometry into a language, and the dining area into a true visual composition.
