Kartell Bourgie Table Lamp: A Design Icon Blending Tradition and Innovation

Designed by Ferruccio Laviani in 2004, the Bourgie table lamp is one of Kartell’s most iconic creations. By reimagining the aesthetics of the Baroque lamp using contemporary manufacturing techniques, it has given rise to an instantly recognizable object that is both decorative and functional. More than twenty years after its launch, Bourgie continues to captivate with its balance of aesthetic heritage, innovation, and creative freedom.

A bold reinterpretation of the Baroque style

With Bourgie, Ferruccio Laviani reinvents a classic silhouette without ever resorting to mere reproduction. The legs echo the generous curves of Baroque furniture, while the pleated lampshade offers a decidedly contemporary graphic interpretation. This fusion of two worlds gives rise to an expressive lamp that transcends styles and eras with surprising ease.

Made from polycarbonate 2.0, derived from a renewable raw material sourced from the paper and cellulose industry, Bourgie also illustrates Kartell’s ability to evolve its iconic creations toward more sustainable materials without compromising their visual identity or manufacturing quality.

A creation that has become a benchmark in contemporary design

Since its launch in 2004, Bourgie has established itself as one of Kartell’s most recognizable signatures. Its unique design allows it to blend seamlessly with classic, contemporary, or eclectic interiors without ever losing its personality.

Found in residential spaces as well as hotels, restaurants, and reception venues, it demonstrates that a strong design can transcend trends while retaining its modernity. Available in numerous finishes, it constantly reinvents its look while remaining true to the silhouette that made it a success.

Where should you place the Bourgie lamp?

Thanks to its adjustable height ranging from 68 to 78 cm, the Bourgie lamp makes a statement comparable to that of a true decorative piece. Its generous dimensions allow it to elegantly adorn a console table, a sideboard, a large desk, an end table, or a spacious bedside table.

Its silhouette naturally draws the eye and defines the space, even when it’s turned off. In a living room, entryway, bedroom, or reception area, it immediately adds character and becomes one of the standout elements of the Decoration.

Does the Bourgie lamp provide enough light for a room?

Yes, the Bourgie lamp offers powerful and versatile lighting that meets both functional needs and the desire for softer light. Equipped with three LED bulbs E14 and a dimmer, it emits even light suitable for reading, focused work, or illuminating a living room or dining room.

When you dim the light, it creates a cozier atmosphere and is perfect for relaxing moments. To get the most out of the dimmer, you simply need to use compatible LED bulbs.

Which finish should you choose to match your interior?

The Bourgie lamp is available in a wide range of finishes to suit any interior style.

The transparent version, which has become iconic, reveals the delicate lines of its form and plays with light to create an almost ethereal presence. It particularly highlights the craftsmanship of the Polycarbonate, whose transparency evokes the delicacy of crystal. The matallic finishes emphasize its luxurious character, while the solid colors offer a more graphic and contemporary interpretation. Regardless of the finish you choose, Bourgie retains the same iconic silhouette, the same features, and the same decorative impact.

Why choose a height-adjustable lamp?

The three-position adjustment system (68, 73, or 78 cm) allows Bourgie to adapt to different pieces of furniture and uses without compromising its visual balance. This versatility makes it easy to integrate into any room in the home and allows you to adjust the lampshade’s height depending on the area to be illuminated.

Combined with the dimmer, this feature makes Bourgie a particularly versatile light fixture, capable of enhancing everything from a quiet reading session to a dinner party or a cozy evening with friends. Few table lamps combine such a strong decorative presence with such flexibility of use with such elegance.

Choosing the Bourgie table lamp by Kartell means bringing one of the great icons of contemporary design into your home. Sculptural without being ostentatious, functional without sacrificing elegance, it has transcended trends with the same modernity for over twenty years and continues to bring character, light, and personality to any interior.
