- A cult object, between folk art and contemporary Decoration
A folk art bird that became a symbol of the Eames style
In their home-workshop in Pacific Palisades, Charles & Ray Eames cultivated a passion for folk and handcrafted objects gleaned from their travels. One of these, an American folk art bird found in the Appalachians, occupied a central place in their living room: its stylized silhouette appears in many official photos of Eames creations. This simple, poetic fetish object was not designed by the couple, but it embodies their curious, sensitive eye for design.
The only original edition by Vitra
This Solid wood model, reissued with the agreement of the Eames family, is the only one authenticated and produced under license by Vitra for Europe. Made in Black stained ash, Dark walnut or Light oiled ash, it rests on slim black steel legs. In the face of the many copies circulating on the market, only the Vitra version guarantees exactness of design, proportion and finish.
A strong, graphic and discreet design accent
Decorative totem, domestic sculpture, silent emblem: the Eames House Bird finds its place on a shelf, enfilade or mantelpiece. Its discreet yet powerful presence lends an arty, timeless and highly symbolic touch to your interior.
