Folded Tall Rolling Dresser: Vertical, Mobile Storage by Muuto

Sleek, graphic, and functional, Muuto’s Folded Tall rolling sideboard makes the most of its height to maximize storage possibilities without cluttering the space. Johan van Hengel translates the visual language of folded paper into clean-lined steel plates. With its top tray and three open compartments, this tall version lets you store, display, and keep many items within easy reach. Mobile thanks to its casters, it fits perfectly in the entryway, kitchen, living room, bedroom, or near a workspace.

The Fold as a Guiding Principle

The silhouette of Folded is based on the precise shaping of steel. The various components are laser-cut and then folded to create the geometric lines that give the piece its structure. Its powder-coated finish enhances its clean, contemporary look while allowing the material’s natural texture to shine through.

The project builds on the work Johan van Hengel did with Muuto on the Folded shelving units. The designer wanted to explore this same language of folded forms through a new type of furniture. The idea of a piece of furniture naturally evolved into a mobile dresser, still designed with a focus on how objects can be organized, displayed, and kept accessible.

More storage, less floor space

Measuring 37.4 L x 37.2 D x 83.7 H cm, the Folded Tall mobile dresser offers ample storage space while taking up minimal floor space. Its three open compartments hold books, accessories, tableware, or everyday items, while the top tray can serve as a place to set things down or display items. This vertical organization makes it easy to achieve storage in spaces where every centimeter counts.

The four casters make it easy to move the unit as needed. They can be replaced with the four included interchangeable bases for a stationary setup. The casters are made from 100% post-industrial recycled plastic, and both systems can be disassembled.

Where can you place a tall dresser with caster wheels?

A tall rolling dresser fits easily anywhere in the home. Inthe entryway, Folded Tall serves as a compact side table for placing keys, glasses, and small items on the tray, while organizing bags and accessories in its open compartments. In the living room, it serves as a small bookcase, storage unit, or mobile bar for holding glasses and bottles. In the kitchen, its three levels hold dishes, bottles, and kitchen accessories. In a bedroom, it helps organize clothes and personal items. Finally, next to a desk, it provides vertical storage for documents and supplies.

Why choose a vertical storage unit?

A vertical storage unit increases storage capacity without taking up additional floor space. At just 37.4 cm wide and 37.2 cm deep, Folded Tall makes the most of its 83.7 cm height to offer three open compartments. It is therefore particularly well-suited for small rooms, narrow entryways, unused corners, or spaces that require storage without bulky furniture.

Can Folded Tall be used without its casters?

Yes, Folded Tall can be used with its Caster system or with the four interchangeable bases included. The casters make it easy to move the unit around regularly, for example, between a kitchen and a dining room or within a flexible workspace. The bases allow you to transform the Dresser into a stationary piece of furniture. This dual configuration lets you adapt its setup to the room’s uses and how it evolves over time.

Is this dresser suitable for professional spaces?

Yes, Folded Tall is designed for both residential and professional environments. Its vertical design creates easily accessible storage while minimizing the floor space it occupies. It can complement a workstation, a shared space, or an environment where layouts change regularly. Its steel frame and understated design allow for a functional storage solution without making the space look overly technical.

Whether in an entryway, living room, kitchen, bedroom, or desk, Muuto’s Folded Tall provides storage where space is limited without weighing down the room. Whether freestanding or mounted, its vertical silhouette naturally adapts to various everyday uses. A dresser designed to organize more while taking up less space.
