From the Muse collection by Jonathan Adler, this surrealist vase is decorated with embossed faces. Sculptural and atypical, the items in the Muse collection have the particularity of bringing out in relief, poetically and surreally, body parts (parts of the face, nipples, etc.) borrowed from these idealised women whom our greatest artists took as their muses. This vase pays tribute to Mexican legendary figure Frida Kahlo, the wife and must of Mexican painter Diego Rivero. Frida Kahlo was a bottomless source of inspiration for designer Jonathan Adler. The white porcelain is decorated with golden delicate, iconographic patterns. These subversive signs and symbols are created using gold leaf. Ceramicist, designer and internationally renowned interior designer, Jonathan Adler first became passionate about terracotta and exhibited his first pottery collection at Barneys in New York in 1993. "Earth is the basis of my work and always will be", affirms Jonathan Adler. For each ceramic piece from the collection, a prototype is made by hand in Jonathan Adler's workshop located in the achingly hip SoHo neighbourhood of New York.
