Gio LN28 Floor lamp: Venetian Elegance Reimagined by Luca Nichetto
With the Gio LN28 floor lamp, Luca Nichetto offers a contemporary take on Venetian glassmaking craftsmanship. The designer combines metal lampshades with geometric lines and a generous base made of brown Emperador marble. Standing 180 cm tall, the floor lamp plays on the contrast between the slenderness of its stem and the more assertive volumes of its shade and base. A graphic composition that engages with the history of Italian design while projecting a resolutely contemporary presence.
Venetian glass reimagined in metal
Gio’s uniqueness lies in the way Luca Nichetto transposes the codes of Venetian glassmaking into another material. The lampshades are crafted from metal using the repoussé technique, then painted or plated. Their clean, geometric lines give the floor lamp an almost architectural look. The base, crafted from cut and polished Emperador marble, provides a natural, veined, and expressive counterpoint. Each base thus showcases the stone’s unique nuances.
A base that anchors the silhouette
Measuring 32 cm in diameter, the Emperador marble base does more than just serve a structural purpose. Its deep Brown hue, crisscrossed with lighter veins, adds depth to the composition and accentuates the contrast with the long metal stem. It creates a strong visual anchor to the floor, while the 42-cm-diameter lampshade appears to almost float at the end of the structure. This interplay between weight and lightness is one of the most interesting details of the floor lamp.
What kind of light does the Gio floor lamp emit?
The Gio floor lamp emits indirect, upward-directed light. The orientation of its lampshades directs the light toward the ceiling rather than directly into the field of vision. Its foot-operated dimmer, located on the cable, allows you to adjust the brightness from 10% to 100%. This makes it possible to adjust the lighting according to the time of day and the desired atmosphere.
Where should you place a floor lamp with indirect lighting?
An indirect-light floor lamp naturally fits in a living room, near a sofa, or in an entryway. At 180 cm tall and with its upward-directed light, Gio contributes to the room’s overall ambiance while taking up minimal floor space thanks to its 32-cm-diameter Base. Its vertical silhouette can also complement a corner of the room or highlight clean, minimalist architecture.
Can the brightness of the Gio floor lamp be adjusted?
Yes, the brightness of the Gio LN28 is adjustable from 10% to 100% using a foot-operated dimmer located on the Cable. This range allows you to switch from brighter lighting to a more subdued atmosphere without changing the light source. The floor lamp uses four LED bulbs G9 rated at up to 5 W each; bulbs are not included.
Why choose a floor lamp with a marble base?
Marble gives the floor lamp a strong visual anchor while enhancing its presence with a natural material. On the Gio, the brown Emperador marble contrasts with the delicacy of the metal structure and features chocolate-brown hues interspersed with lighter veins. The natural variations in the marble also make each base visually unique.
With its slender silhouette, upward-directed light, and stone base, the Gio floor lamp by Luca Nichetto strikes a subtle balance between sophistication and understated elegance. In a contemporary living room, an interior featuring natural materials, or a more architectural space, it catches the eye without overwhelming the decor, allowing the marble, metal, and light to work together to create the atmosphere.
