Description
Designed by Jasper Morrison, the HAL RE chair is now produced in recycled polypropylene. HAL is Jasper Morrison's interpretation of a shell chair in the tradition of Charles and Ray Eames' Plastic Chair, the variety of different bases allowing for versatile use – from dining tables to meeting rooms, bars to auditoriums. The recycling material of HAL RE comes from the collection of household waste in Germany which mainly consists of used packaging. Using this recycled material instead of conventional plastic means a 54% reduction in climate-damaging emissions, as well as a significant reduction in energy consumption. All colours are speckled with tiny flecks of pigment due to the composition of the recycled material. Due to the random colour composition of the treated waste, each batch has its own shade of colour. The seat shell of HAL RE can also be 100% recycled at the end of the product's life, thus meeting the strict ecological requirements Vitra imposes on new materials and solutions for the development and manufacture of its products. After Tip Ton RE, HAL RE is the second chair made by Vitra using this new material and production technique, and more will follow!
