TALA Kilter Short LED Wall light: a light beam that can be freely directed
With the Kilter Short LED, TALA reimagines the linear wall light in a particularly minimalist architectural style. The design is simple and highly graphic: a frosted glass light tube extends through a round, swiveling wall base. This joint allows the light to be directed vertically, horizontally, or diagonally, depending on the desired effect. In its 50 cm L version, Kilter maintains a strong presence without being overpowering, allowing it to fit just as well next to a Mirror as in a hallway or on an exterior wall.
An architectural light fixture that embraces its light source
The name Kilter refers to the intersection between the linear light source and the central pivot point. Here, TALA has chosen not to conceal the bulb. Instead, the S14d tube becomes an essential part of the design. Its frosted glass finish subtly reveals the internal filament when the light is on, while maintaining the distinctive graphic look characteristic of this type of light source.
The light it emits is functional and uniform. The frosted glass helps minimize the darker spots that can sometimes appear on certain tubular bulbs. The included LED tube delivers 375 lm at 6 W, with a color temperature of 2700 K and a CRI of 95 Ra. It is also dimmable from 0 to 100% to adjust the brightness according to your needs.
Where can you install the Kilter wall light?
Kilter can be used in a variety of settings thanks to its linear design and adjustable tube. Placed next to or above a Mirror, it provides functional lighting in a bathroom. In a kitchen, it can highlight a wall or supplement the lighting in a specific area. In a hallway or living room, its silhouette adds an architectural, almost graphic touch. It can also be installed outdoors—for example, under a porch or on a building facade—as long as the installation complies with the requirements for its protection rating.
What does the IP44 rating of the Kilter wall light mean?
The IP44 rating means that the Kilter is protected against solid objects larger than 1 mm and against water splashes from all directions. This makes it suitable for humid environments and allows for installation in Zones 1 and 2 of a bathroom, in accordance with the specified installation requirements. TALA also specifies that it is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Kilter is therefore suitable for a bathroom, kitchen, entryway, porch, or exterior wall exposed to everyday water splashes. However, the IP44 rating does not provide protection against submersion or powerful water jets.
What’s included with the Kilter wall light?
The Kilter wall light consists of a metal wall base and a frosted glass light tube (included). The tube clips into the wall base, which swivels to allow for vertical, horizontal, or angled installation. The fixture is therefore delivered with its light source included.
Which light tube should be used with the Kilter wall light?
The Kilter must be used with the TALA LED tube designed for this fixture. The included tube is a replaceable S14d T30 frosted glass bulb, but TALA specifies that no alternative bulbs should be used. Replacement TALA tubes are sold separately on the website and are available in two lengths—50 cm and 64 cm—to match the two Kilter wall light models.
Which finish and length should you choose?
Kilter is available in several metal finishes for the wall base, paired with a frosted glass tube. Depending on the version chosen, the finish can create a more understated, brighter, or warmer look. Two tube lengths are available— 50 cm and 64 cm—to adapt the fixture’s proportions to the width of a Mirror, a piece of furniture, or the section of wall to be illuminated.
In this way, Kilter transforms a very simple light source into a true architectural statement. Precisely oriented and selected in the appropriate finish, it can frame a mirror, add rhythm to a hallway, or define an exterior wall with a clean, contemporary line of light.
