Maap the wall light sculpted by light
With Maap, Erwan Bouroullec imagines much more than a wall light. This monumental work of light transforms space into a sensitive landscape, thanks to a vast luminous surface that you can shape yourself. Part art installation, part design object, Maap introduces a new way of inhabiting light with an instinctive, living gesture.
Crumpled material becomes light sculpture
This designer wall light features a huge white Tyvek diffuser and a black steel light structure incorporating four LED sources. Resembling crumpled paper, Tyvek is surprisingly strong and almost Textile in appearance. The user himself shapes the material to create reliefs, folds and volumes. Each composition becomes totally unique. With a span of around 155 x 155 cm, Maap transforms the wall into an organic cloud of light with wabi-sabi and experimental accents.
Immersive light as an experience
Unlike a conventional wall light, the large Maap Wall light diffuses a soft, enveloping clarity across its entire surface. The light does not emanate from a specific point, but seems to emerge from the material itself. This even diffusion creates a particularly soothing ambience in a minimalist living room, contemporary gallery or generously proportioned bedroom. Black magnetic buttons called Dots stabilize the structure, while enabling the composition to be continually reshaped as required.
The Bouroullec universe between art and interior design
With its shifting appearance evoking a mineral landscape, an abstract map or a cellular structure, the Maap sculptural wall lamp goes beyond the traditional codes of decorative lighting. It dialogues magnificently with raw concrete, dark wood, textured materials or ultra-minimalist interiors. Few lighting creations today offer such a level of interaction between object and user. Each installation becomes an almost performative piece that evolves with the place and the hand that shapes it.
