With Panton Cubes Flamingo, Verner Panton transforms basic geometry into an instantly recognizable silhouette. Designed in 1974 and now reissued by Vitra, this kit lets you assemble your own flamingo using cubic frames and snap-together boards. Its two-tone red version plays with varying shades to add rhythm to the forms and highlight its characteristic long neck. The set is made from Recycled ABS sourced from production scraps.

The Cube According to Verner Panton

More than just a static sculpture, Panton Cubes is based on a true construction system. Beginning in the mid-1970s, Verner Panton used the cube as a basic unit that he repeated, combined, disassembled, and reassembled to create animal, abstract, or graphic compositions. This freedom of construction extends his exploration of modular and combinatorial forms.

Vitra is now reissuing this concept in collaboration with Verner Panton Design AG. The collection features four animals: the cat, the duck, the flamingo, and the giraffe. Each silhouette is available in a two-tone or Chromed finish. The Panton Cubes Flamingo stands out for its vertical construction, its long geometric neck, and its two-tone Red, which further enhances the figure’s visual presence.

Assemble, disassemble, reinvent

Assembly is an integral part of the concept. The cubic frames are connected by small clips and then covered with boards that close off the selected sides. No tools are required. The structure can then be disassembled just as easily, allowing you to follow the flamingo model or repurpose the elements to experiment with your own compositions.

The frames, clips, and boards are made from post-industrial Recycled ABS sourced from production scraps. This material preserves the precision of the lines and the sharpness of the forms that give Panton’s geometric language its full impact.

Do you have to assemble the Panton Cubes Flamingo yourself?

Yes. The Panton Cubes Flamingo comes as a Kit and must be assembled by the user without tools. It includes the number of cubes needed to create the complete figure. Since the various elements can be disassembled, they can then be reassembled to explore other configurations.

Are Panton Cubes child’s toys?

No. Panton Cubes are decorative objects, not toys. Vitra specifies that they should not be left within reach of children without supervision. They are intended for decorative use, whether in a home, an office, a storefront, or a reception area.
