Born in 1939 in La Spezia, Gaetano Pesce is a major figure in world design. Architect, designer, painter, sculptor, stylist, set designer, teacher, philosopher: it's hard to sum up a body of work as protean and rich as his. Gaetano Pesce breaks the boundaries of the usual categories between art and design. Exhibited in the most prestigious museums, his works oscillate between sculpture and furniture. Highly colorful and eccentric in form, his poetic creations transcend time and are designed to convey emotion. His innovative approach is not tied to any particular style or movement. Opposing industrial perfection, Gaetano Pesce likes to use materials rarely used in the world of design, such as Resin. Leaving room for chance, he lets artisans take part in his creations.

As the Sun sets over New York City, a kaleidoscope of colors shines through the windows of the skyscrapers... The "Tramento a New York" Folding screen is inspired by the iconic sofa of the same name designed by Gaetano Pesce in the 1980s. A homage to the designer's adopted city, ''Tramonto a New York'' is a piece of furniture that seeks to redeem the sole functionalism of design by expressing - with clear Pop Art inspiration - a reflection on the contemporaneity and identity of a metropolis synonymous with dynamism, revolution and energy. A personal confession, then, embodied in a form that goes beyond the usual logic of the Folding screen and becomes architecture.

A bright red Sun disappears between skyscrapers characterized by a rectangular grid that reproduces the light reflected on the windows. Made from colored, semi-transparent Resin, this Folding screen creates an enchanting Toy of light. Gaetano Pesce recreates the profile of New York City and the evocative nuances of facades and buildings, mixing a balanced quantity of colored pigments to create different intensities of light. The light shines through the vibrant colors, creating a triptych that reveals a true work of art.

Pesce reconstructs the profile of the city that never sleeps by pouring colored resin in stages into molds to reproduce, layer by layer, the evocative shades of building facades, ranging from purple and blue to pink and green, while the large, round sun is embodied by a deep red. The colors were specially designed for this project and created by mixing a balanced quantity of pigments to vary the intensity. This complex handmade process makes each piece unique and never entirely identical to another.

The three Boards are connected by Frozzed brass hinges.

To guarantee the authenticity of this work of art, each Folding screen comes with a plaque bearing the Cassina logo, the series number and the artist's signature, Gaetano Pesce.
