CASSINA

Memory, research, innovation... For almost 100 years, Italian design house Cassina has been at the forefront of innovation. Combining state-of-the-art machinery with manual labor, Cassina relies on genuine know-how and a catalog of design icons, without being afraid to project itself into the future.

Twentieth-century icons and twenty-first-century talents inform the Cassina collection, which is designed with respect for the environment in mind. Rich in prestigious re-editions, the Cassina catalog leaves plenty of room for new collaborations. Custodian of a veritable war treasure trove of Italian design, the avant-garde-minded company remains at the cutting...

The Italian company has been firmly rooted in the Lombardy Earth of Meda since it was founded by Cesare and Umberto Cassina in 1927. From the outset, the company, with its pioneering and free spirit, has been ahead of its time, charting an unprecedented course - with intuition and anticipation - in the world of design and interior architecture. Cassina launched industrial design in Italy in the 1950s with an unprecedented logic that marked the transition from artisanal to mass production. Thanks to its penchant for research and innovation, Cassina has always been able to combine technology with traditional craftsmanship.

The "I Maestri" collection is the cornerstone of the Cassina catalog: it brings together icons signed by legendary names such as Le Corbusier, Frank Lloyd Wright, Charlotte Perriand, Gerrit Rietveld, Gio Ponti...oth emblematic but lesser-known names contribute to the Cassina legend, such as Italian architect, set designer, painter and photographer Ico Parisi (1916-1996). With 600 archived pieces, half of which are listed in the catalog, the "I Maestri" collection regularly includes prestigious new reissues. The work on the Maestri is carried out with the greatest respect for the original models, which are updated in line with technological developments. For example, Gio Ponti's emblematic Superleggera Chair now benefits from improved production techniques, making it more affordable. Cassina endeavors to translate the designer's intention, sometimes making slight modifications, for example by adapting the proportions or modifying the color or upholstery.

Alongside the great masters of the past, the heirs are grouped together under the label ''I Contemporanei'' : Jean-Marie Massaud, Konstantin Grcic, Piero Lissoni, Philippe Starck, Zaha Hadid, Jaime Hayón... Not forgetting architect and designer Patricia Urquiola, who holds a special place in the company. Since September 2015, she has been the company's Artistic Director, constantly pushing the boundaries of the Candle brand. In particular, she conducts extensive research into materials and colors, to create a harmony to resonate iconic and contemporary creations together.

Thanks to a constant focus on aesthetics and typologies, Cassina continues to represent new lifestyles by creating complete, harmonious environments for all areas of the home, inspired by society, art and fashion. With an eye resolutely turned towards the future, challenging conventional solutions, Cassina draws the horizons of the new.
