The first version of this model was designed by Charlotte Perriand in 1927. The LC9 Stool was Charlotte Perriand's first project to join the Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand collection.
In 1927, Charlotte Perriand designed this small Stool for the dining room of her apartment in Place Saint-Sulpice, Paris. It features a tubular metal structure combined with a Rattan seat. It later became part of the Le Corbusier collection, which included the famous Reclining chair with continuous adjustment and the Grand Confort armchairs. In 1929, the three designers' project was presented at the "Equipement intérieur d'une Habitation" exhibition at the Salon d'Automne in Paris. The LC9 Stool was presented as a bathroom chair with a removable Sponge seat, a symbol of personal hygiene and an important preoccupation of the modern movement. The aim was to create furniture that would fit harmoniously into the modern living spaces of the time, reflecting the ideals of progress, functionality and beauty. The LC9 Stool was born of this vision of designing furniture that was both aesthetically pleasing and adapted to the practical needs of everyday life.
The LC9 Stool was designed to be lightweight, durable and easy to move. Its ergonomic design offered comfort while embodying the aesthetic principles of the modern movement, emphasizing simplicity, functionality and clean form.
A perfect illustration of the principles of the modernist movement, LC9 remains a symbol of twentieth-century design.
With its timeless design, the LC9 Stool blends harmoniously into a variety of spaces, from modern residential interiors to contemporary commercial environments. Each stool comes packaged for easy transport.
