Neutra Small Pendant Light: Ferruccio Laviani’s Futuristic Icon Reimagined

Back at Kartell, the Neutra Small pendant lamp reinterprets the futuristic design conceived by Ferruccio Laviani in a 56-cm-diameter format. Its circular silhouette is formed by the layering of two shell-like elements that enclose the light source. This construction gives rise to a very pure, almost lunar shape, whose delicacy contrasts with its graphic presence. The opal white diffuser appears beneath the dome and distributes light across its entire surface to create ample, even illumination.

Neutra’s unique character lies in its interlocking design. The lampshade forms a broad horizontal line, while the internal diffuser filters the light sources. This configuration produces uniform, glare-free light, which is particularly appreciated when the pendant is installed above a table. The new version also features updated materials, with a lampshade made from renewable raw materials in the form of polycarbonate 2.0 and a diffuser made from Recycled PMMA.
